Barton Reading and Spelling System

The Barton Reading and Spelling System is a great tutoring program for children, teenagers, or adults who struggle with spelling, reading, and writing. The Barton System has proven to be effective for native English-speakers and those with identified learning difficulties, one of these difficulties being Dyslexia.  While some dyslexics become adequate readers through traditional instruction, more than 50% require specialized instruction to overcome reading or processing challenges. This multi-sensory, direct, explicit, and structured intervention program is research and evidence based.  HCLC volunteer tutors are trained in the Barton program and work with students until proficiency is obtained.  It is never too late to improve the reading, spelling, and writing skills of those with learning difficulties.
