HCLC Celebrates International Literacy Day!
Since 1967, International Literacy Day celebrations have taken place annually around the world to remind the public of the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights, and to advance the literacy agenda towards a more literate and sustainable society. 2018’s theme is “Literacy and Skills Development”. The Horry County Literacy Council is partnering with the Carolina Forest Public Library in celebration of this special occasion.
We will share the joy of reading with adults and children, focusing on languages other than English. Volunteers will share their favorite tales with patrons, each highlighting languages spoken around the world. HCLC staff and volunteers will be onsite to answer any questions you may have about our agency and how you can become involved.
